Why playing with abstract wooden toys and animals is beneficial for children's development

Playing with animals and figures becomes fascinating as soon as children can grasp objects in a coordinated way and remains a focus until they start school, if not longer. The more abstract wooden animals and figures are, the more they stimulate a child's imagination during play. This becomes particularly relevant later, when children of school age have to tackle completely abstract tasks that require imagination and the ability to visualize in order to solve them.

At the same time, wooden animals and figures also support your child in telling and acting out stories. They can represent themselves as individual wooden figures, while also being part of a larger whole, such as an animal family or a themed world like a farm or forest, thereby conveying basic relationships to children.

The manufacturer: Since 1939, Ostheimer has been producing wooden toys for children, guided, among other things, by the ideas of Waldorf education. Ostheimer has received multiple awards for its social and cultural engagement. Ostheimer's wooden figures are made and painted entirely by hand. The wood used comes from Central European forestry. Each product is therefore unique, with its distinctive design inspiring children to play imaginatively. The high-quality materials are certified and comply with all toy safety requirements.
